Consumers Get New Anti-Spam Choice:
InBoxer
Software from Audiotrieve Knocks Out Junk Email in Outlook
Innovative Language Technologies and Bayesian Analysis
Enable InBoxer
toRemove More Than 99% of Spam
BOXBOROUGH, Mass. (BUSINESS WIRE) July 7, 2003
— InBoxer, a new
type of spam fighting software, was introduced today for Microsoft
Outlook users seeking a junk email free Inbox, by Audiotrieve, a company
founded by former executives from Dragon Systems, the one-time speech
recognition and language technology industry leader. InBoxer uses a revolutionary
process based on techniques used language technology products to identify
and remove spam. Unlike traditional spam fighters, InBoxer continuously
learns by example to
reduce spam by more than 99 percent.
"Accuracy and ease-of-use are the most important features of any
anti-spam filter," said Mark Ehr, Senior Analyst with Enterprise
Management Associates, a technology analyst firm that specializes exclusively
in management software and services. "InBoxer
empowers Outlook users with state-of-the-art anti-spam technology,
providing an extremely accurate and easy-to-use mechanism that ensures
that they do not receive unwanted junk mail in their inboxes."
InBoxer outsmarts the spammers because it doesn't just block spam,
it actively seeks good messages to place in the Inbox. The easy-to-use
software learns from the messages in the user's mail folders and builds
a personal email language model for each user.
"U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart once said that he could
not define pornography, but he added 'I know pornography when I see
it,'" said Roger Matus,
Audiotrieve's chief executive. "Spam is the same way. Traditional
companies try to define it with rules and lists. But, that can never
work for everyone. InBoxer learns by example from each user to build
a more effective, yet easier to use, anti-spam filter."
InBoxer is so effective that it can learn the difference between an
intimate note from your spouse and offensive mail from a bulk mailer.
It can distinguish between an order acknowledgement and a sales message
from the same company. The user may define trusted senders and companies.
Should InBoxer make a mistake, one click corrects it. Messages are
quarantined, not deleted.
"InBoxer virtually wiped out spam from my Inbox and let all of
my important mail through. It worked much better than many of the other
products that I had tried," said
Mel Jackson, vicepresident of strategic planning for Virtual Ink, a
leader in the development of collaboration technologies.
A free InBoxer trial is now available from www.inboxer.com. The product
is being offered at the web site for an introductory price of $24.95
through October 1. It has a list price of $39.95.
