Utah governor receiving hate emails for immigration case

Large amounts of negative emails have been flooding the inbox of Utah Governor Gary Herbert for his role in the state's immigration case.

Recently, a list containing the names and personal information of nearly 1,300 illegal immigrants has been circulating in the state. After learning of this list, Herbert ordered an investigation regarding its origins and subsequently fired two Department of Workforce Services employees who he found to be responsible for its creation.

After the public learned of these firings, the email abuse and various other threats began to roll in to the governor's office. Currently, nearly 400 pages of correspondence sent from the public to the governor exists, and according to the Deseret News, only a small portion of it supports Herbert's actions.

One negative email, stated that Herbert's actions not to immediately deport any of the people on the list was a "slap in the face to upstanding citizens and sent the wrong message to illegal aliens in the state." The email went on to thank the fired workers for doing their "civic duty," the Deseret News relays.

Herbert is hardly the first government employee to receive these types of emails. Recently dismissed Department of Agriculture official Shirley Sherrod has been receiving similar threats after a video of her on Fox News stating she did not provide full force in aiding white farmers appeared.
