What does the system tray icon mean?

InBoxer adds a new icon to the system tray. While it is similar in function to the Microsoft Outlook mail icon, there is one significant difference. The Microsoft Outlook icon will become an envelope when any type of new mail arrives, including spam or junk. The InBoxer icon will change to a green envelope only when there is current new mail that is not blocked as spam. (You can turn off the InBoxer system tray icon in the InBoxer -> Preferences dialog.)

The icon may be in one of three states:

The green thumbs up icon is the normal InBoxer state. It means that there are no messages waiting and that InBoxer is not currently filtering any messages.

The green envelope icon indicates that there is new mail, which is not spam, that is available to read. (Technically, it means that there is new mail in any watched folder as defined in the Control Panel.) You may read any new messages by double clicking on this icon.

The green envelope has a yellow background when InBoxer is filtering your email. The amount of yellow is related to the activity level. Typically this happens immediately after Outlook fetches your mail.

If you hover your mouse of the InBoxer icon (in any state), you will see a count of the number of messages InBoxer has handled since the last time Microsoft Outlook was launched.
